Lead Scientist- Immunology & Immunotoxicology

 

This is an exciting time to join our new and growing Immunology & Imunotoxicology department as a Lead Scientist. There is a large investment into seeing this department grow and succeed at a global level.  

 

Make use of your strong immunology background, project management and assay validation skills by serving as the Subject Matter Expert for a gloabl team of scientists, dedicated to making strides in early stage drug development and biologics. Expert level flow cytometry skills are a must.

In this role you will...

  • Research and develop new assays and applications, providing analysis, analytical interpretation, discussion and report data
  • Assess the feasibility of new assays, applications and methods for other sites. Responsible for assisting with the generation and interpretation of validation data in validation reports.
  • Participate in any global Instrumentation and software purchase and any validation work within the Immunology and Immunotoxicology group.
  • Communicate study status and proactively anticipate problems that may affect timing, quality, etc. taking appropriate action to resolve such problems.
  • Collaborate with clients, Study Direction, Study Management and Departmental Management to produce an effective study design.
  • Participate in the production, development of study protocols within the relevant assigned discipline for Immunology and Immunotoxicology.
  • Attend relevant professional conferences and seminars.
  • Produce method documentation, study specific procedures and SOP’s as appropriate to meet study and regulatory requirements.
  • Proactively manage study changes to meet timelines and ensure all additional costs are captured.
  • Develop and implement problem solving solutions for out of specification assay or instrument performance within studies and perform troubleshooting.
  • Evaluate existing departmental and global procedures and systems and participates in process improvements.
  • Develop working relationships and encourages teamwork with the global study teams.

PhD Preferred, but not required

  • Have a minimum of 7 years combined experience with immunology and flow cytometry
  • At least 2 years in a leadership role (team lead) with project management responsibilities
  • Working knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety policies, Company Policies and Procedures, a working knowledge of ISO (accreditation and application), and an in-depth understanding of GLP and GCP.
  • The post holder should be able to communicate effectively at all levels with other Covance employees, as well as external clients, suppliers, etc.
